About Us
Ayurveda is a Sanskrit term, made up of the words “ayus” and “veda.” “Ayus” means life and “Veda” means knowledge or science. The term “ayurveda” thus means ‘the knowledge of life’ or ‘the science of life’.
According to the ancient Ayurvedic scholar Charaka, “ayu” comprises the mind, body, senses and the soul.
The two basic aims of Ayurveda are to prevent illness, heal the sick and preserve life. This can be summed up as follows:
- To protect health and prolong life (“Swasthyasswasthyarakshanam”)
- To eliminate diseases and dysfunctions of the body (“Aturasyavikarprashamanamcha”)
Thus the conceptual and operational framework of Ayurveda is very extensive and it includes all the essentials to make a man healthy and happy. It comprises the study of right conduct (dharma), which is necessary for the healthy growth of society where the man lives. Additionally it deals with the philosophical aspect of life, the knowledge that contributes greatly to the wellbeing and contentment of all human beings.

Our Work
SGSPM is successfully managing the Smt. Vimladevi Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, conducting B.A.M.S. Degree course, since October 2010. The College has an intake capacity of 100 students per session. This college provides all facilities to its students that help them in developing their skills and enhancing their knowledge in the field of Ayurveda with the tools of conceptual study along with practical implementation. We continuously train generations of students and mould them into outstanding Ayurveda practitioners and excellent teachers in the field of Ayurveda.
We organize workshops, guest lectures, seminars, clinical meetings designed to educate Ayurveda students & general public regarding the effectiveness of Ayurveda. We have highly qualified & experienced faculty.
Our Infrastructure
Our college has 13.75 Acres of land, which includes 59050 sq.mt. college building anf 41304 sq.mt fully developed hospital buiding, where in more than 1800 Ayurvedic plants of more than 274 species are planted in 3 acres of land. College has well equipped departments of Ayurved Samhita & Siddhant, Rachana Sharir, Kriya Sharir, DravyagunaVigyana, Rasa Shastra &Bhaisajya Kalpana, Rog Nidan&Vikriti Vigyan, Swasthvritta& Yoga, Agad Tantra & Vidhi Vaidyaka, Kayachikitsa, Panchkarma, Shalyatantra + (Ksharsutra Lab.), Shalakya Tantra, Prasuti&Stri Rog and Kamarbhritya – Bala Rog. These departments fulfill all essential requirements and facilities. Rasa Shastra &Bhaishajya Kalpana department prepare Ayurveda Medicines in the pharmacy of our institute.
